We have just returned from what has now become our annual pilgrimage to Blackpool for our Summer Reunion and what a fantastic time we had. Over 300 people came to see us over the weekend which made everything we had planned and worked for all worthwhile.

We started our festivities a little early as around 50 people had booked in for the Friday at the Savoy Hotel so it was fitting that we put on a Karaoke night which proved to be well received by all.
The Saturday was of course our fancy dress party at the Catholic Club where many of our members arrived suitably attired in 70’s gear. The Disco was provided by 2 of our members, Ted & Reg from Castleford and all agreed they did a sterling job for us.
The Sunday which we billed as the Grand Club Day was outstanding. The afternoon started off with Andy Davies at the keyboard with a free & easy sing-a-long followed by a couple of games of bingo then Karaoke took us up to the time the Concert Chairman was due.
Once again, the Chairman did not let us down and arrived in good spirit although was slightly worse for wear at the end of the evening.
During the weekend, thanks to the extreme generosity of our members we raised the grand total of £617 for our designated charity, Help for Heroes. In addition to this, Martin Marshall sold £60 worth of goods on his stall in the Savoy – well done.
All in all things at the Cumberland continue to move in the right direction and on behalf of Yvonne and Myself thank you for making the weekend the success it was.
